Standing by our Members, through every challenge

Behind every PGA Member is a story of dedication, passion, and resilience. Yet even the most committed professionals can face moments of uncertainty, whether through illness, injury, financial hardship, or unexpected life events. These challenges can be overwhelming, but no Member should face them alone. PGA Care (previously The PGA Benevolent Fund) exists to offer a lifeline when it’s needed most, providing compassionate, confidential support that meets Members where they are and helps them move forward. Because at The PGA, we believe in looking after our own.

PGA Care – Supporting Members Since 1901

The origins of the Care Fund trace back to a letter published in Golf Illustrated in June 1901, in which a North Wales professional called for the formation of an association to protect the interests and welfare of golf professionals. This call to action led to the foundation of The PGA, and with it, the Benevolent Fund—an initiative designed to ensure that members had support during periods of illness, injury, unemployment, or financial difficulty.

In its earliest days, the PGA reached out to golf clubs across the UK to explain the purpose of the Fund. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many clubs offering generous donations in support of the Association’s commitment to member welfare. Since then, the Benevolent Fund has remained a symbol of solidarity and care within the professional golfing community. Today, that spirit lives on through PGA Care.
