A warm welcome: PGA induction days inspire Year 1 Trainees

PGA Members now have just THREE WEEKS to complete and submit your 2022/23 CPD journals via PGA Learn.

The 31st October, 2023 deadline is fast approaching and by submitting your journal for the last CPD year, you will ensure your records are complete, up-to-date and reflect the personal development you have done over the last 12 months.

CLICK HERE to learn how to complete and submit your 2022/23 CPD journal or learn more about The PGA CPD system.

Once the deadline has passed, all journals will automatically lock for this period and further edits/entries will not be possible.

If you meet or exceed the minimum learning hours for this period (currently 15 hours), you will maintain or gain CPD Accredited status for the remainder of the 2022/23 CPD year and the whole of the 2023/24 CPD year.

If you currently hold Accredited Status but do not submit a 2022/23 journal by the deadline, you will lose it on 1st November, 2023. However, you will be able to regain your status immediately by meeting the minimum learning hours for the year and submitting your 2023/24 CPD journal.

PGA Excel

Gaining CPD Accredited status allows PGA Members to begin their PGA Excel journey. PGA Excel is a new, best-in-class assessment framework that enables you to demonstrate your impact and achievement to employers, golfers and the wider industry.

Different membership designations are awarded through PGA Excel, enabling you to use these bands and the accompanying logos to market, promote and differentiate yourself from other PGA Members.

Gaining Accredited Status also allows you to demonstrate to your customers and employers that you are engaging in CPD. You will also receive a digital CPD Accredited certificate for meeting the PGA CPD Standards.

Why CPD?

In 2020, The PGA’s CPD system changed significantly and you were put in sole charge of your CPD records. You now decide what goes on your records and how much time you would like to attribute to each learning activity.

There are no longer any requirements for you to gain a set amount of CPD points that are only awarded for certain ‘accepted’ formal learning activities.

Listening to a podcast, reading an article in an industry magazine or shadowing a colleague at work are all valid ways of learning. This approach to CPD is not unique and is commonplace in most professional bodies. Valid CPD is now often viewed as anything that a Member chooses to report. This is based on the idea that professionals ‘ought’ to know what they need to do to keep up and develop as a professional.

Member Support

To support Members with submitting their 2022/23 CPD journals, The PGA education team are running a series of free 15-minute one-to-one online workshops throughout October.

CLICK HERE to book an appointment.

PGA Members can access an online course ‘My CPD Explained’ which runs through everything you need to know about recording your CPD.
