A warm welcome: PGA induction days inspire Year 1 Trainees

Exciting new events combine with historic favourites as we announce the 2026 PGA Tournament Schedule. In line with our evolving tournament strategy, this schedule is designed to grow participation whilst strengthening the financial sustainability of PGA tournaments.

The 2026 schedule showcases extraordinary venues alongside the introduction of the new PGA Sprint Series, and the Association has been working hard across the last six months to confirm the schedule a month earlier than last year, giving you more time to plan your season.

Commenting on the 2026 schedule, Richard Barker PGA, Executive Director – Business Development said: “We’re pleased not only to announce the tournament schedule even earlier than 2025, but also that we’re able to showcase the action being taken in line with our overarching tournament strategy which I would encourage Members to familiarise themselves with If they haven’t already.

“We continue to uphold our commitment to consistent communication with PGA Members to explain the changes being made to their tournaments, and now we’re taking it a step further by demonstrating how those changes directly impact PGA Members, delivering tournaments that better meet the needs of the Association and our Membership."

Slaley Hall, nestled in the heart of Northumberland, will host the flagship event of the Callaway PGA National Tournament Schedule, the PGA Professional Championship, in June, made possible through our valued partnership with The QHotels Collection. Forest Pines Golf Club – another QHotels venue – also features on this season’s schedule, as the Lincolnshire club hosts the PGA Super 60s Championship later in the summer.

In late June, the WPGA Professional & Assistants’ Championship will take place at Carden Park’s Cheshire Course. Home to PGA Captain Elect and Head Professional, David Llewelyn, Carden Park provides the perfect backdrop for the signature WPGA tournament in the Association’s 125th year.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club, Scotland - host venue of the 2026 Senior PGA Professional Championship

The schedule will see Members experience some of the best courses that Scotland and Wales have to offer. The iconic Royal Dornoch – which previously hosted the Northern Open as part of the Callaway Chrome Tour Open Series – will welcome the Senior PGA Professional Championship in May. The Welsh National PGA Championship moves to Conwy – hosts of the Curtis Cup in 2021 and 2024 PGA Professional Championship venue – in September.

The Scottish and Irish PGA Championships will each benefit from a £(€)10,000 investment for 2026. The Scottish PGA Championship is set to take place at West Kilbride Golf Club in late August, while the venue for the Irish PGA Championship is yet to be confirmed – further details will be announced in due course.

Introducing the new PGA Sprint Series

New for 2026, the PGA Sprint Series consists of nine 18-hole pro-only events each carrying a £10,000 prize fund. This series of one-day events delivers against a key pillar of Tournament Strategy, launched in 2024: to expand and create new tournament formats which inspire more Members to participate in competitive golf.

Open to all Members across England and Wales, the PGA Sprint Series brings together several legacy events, including the Southern Open, Glazerite Trophy, East Anglian Open, North Championship, Southern Professional Championship, Midland Professional Championship, West Championship, Lancashire Open, and Wiltshire Open. The series tees off with the Southern Open at Sonning Golf Club on May 18 and concludes with the Wiltshire Open at Rushmore Golf Club on September 15.

Philip Davies, Head of Tournaments at The PGA, said: “We’re delighted to unveil the new PGA Sprint Series, which reflects our commitment to an improved tournament structure by providing opportunities for our Members to compete in high-quality, one-day events across England & Wales.

“We’re pleased to bring together a schedule that works for PGA Professionals whose commitments may not allow for two-or-three-day tournaments but still want to compete.”

Building on the success of the Callaway Chrome Tour PGA Open Series

The Chrome Tour PGA Open Series remains at nine events but visits six new venues in 2026, with prize money increased by 10% to £22,000 per event.

Among the fresh stops are Mottram Hall, in Cheshire, which hosts the Manchester Open in May, and Moray Golf Club in Lossiemouth, the site of the Northern Open in June.

Carlow Golf Club, one of the finest inland courses in Ireland, is a welcome addition to the Open Series schedule in July, and the series concludes with the prestigious Leeds Cup in August.

2026 PGA Cup Qualification

Performance in the PGA Professional Championship plays a central role in qualifying for the 2026 PGA Cup Team. Results from both the 2025 and 2026 Championships feed into the selection process, with points awarded to the top 20 finishers, weighted more heavily in 2026 due to its proximity to the international event. Five team spots will be allocated via this two-year points list.

The Chrome Tour PGA Open Series offers a second path to PGA Cup qualification. Across its nine events in 2025 plus the first seven in 2026, players can earn points based on their best five annual finishes. The top 20 players from each year contribute to an aggregated Order of Merit, with the leading player not already qualified via the PGA Professional Championship standings claiming an automatic place on the team. If already qualified, the next eligible player is selected.
