Balancing a busy workload – insights from Rob Bluck at 3 Hammers

Last year, The PGA made changes to the structure of the annual PGA Midlands Professional, Manager, Player and Coach of the Year and Toby Sunderland awards and nominations are now open for 2025.

These awards honour the outstanding contributions of Midlands based PGA Members who have made a significant impact with their role(s) and across the Region. The refreshed process and scoring system have revamped these awards and are now far more transparent, user-friendly and inclusive.

As of last year, anyone can nominate a PGA Member, from other PGA Members to amateur golfers and club managers, which has enhanced the credibility, reach and recognition of the Midlands Awards.

We urge Members to share the nomination process within their community, sharing the opportunity to nominate their Professional, Coach or Manager with club members, students and employers.

Key Objectives

Enhanced Credibility

The Association is taking proactive steps to increase the recognition of these awards within the wider Midlands golfing community, providing winners with industry and Region wide recognition.

Standardised Scoring

A standardised scoring system has been introduced to ensure fairness across all award categories.

Maximised Participation

The new structure encourages more involvement from PGA Members and allows anyone from within the Midlands Region to submit one or more nominations.

User-Friendly Nomination Process

The nomination and scoring process has been redesigned to be simple and transparent, ensuring clarity and ease of use at every step. This streamlined process makes it easier for both nominators and candidates to participate, reducing complexity and enhancing accessibility.

In the same way as last year, once nominations have been received and the closing date has passed, to maintain the integrity and fairness of the awards, a subcommittee – the Midlands Chairman and four committee members – will use the new scoring system to evaluate and select winners.

The Player of the Year award yet again takes a unique approach, as it doesn’t require nominations. Instead, the subcommittee will select a winner based on quantitative performance data, ensuring the award reflects measurable accomplishments on the golf course. This method awards the player who has performed to the highest level throughout the PGA tournament season.

To nominate one or more PGA Members, please click the relevant link below. Each nomination form contains details of the awards' T&Cs.

The deadline for all nominations is December 1st 2025.

Please click below to access each nomination form(s). Individual nomination forms must be completed to nominate one PGA Member for more than one award.
