A warm welcome: PGA induction days inspire Year 1 Trainees

Former Somerset cricketer Peter Trego is wasting no time in making his mark as a professional golfer following his change of sporting codes.

Having won on his debut in the Total Triumph-sponsored Gloucester and Somerset PGA Winter Series, Trego made it two wins in three outings in the latest event at Tall Pines.

In doing so, the year one PGA Trainee who is attached to Mendip Spring was the only member of the field to break par on the course that flanks Bristol International Airport.

His one-under par round of 69 left him three shots clear of Gloucester and Somerset captain Ross Langdon and four ahead of Order of Merit pacemaker Giuseppe Licata who finished third.

Licata’s third place coupled with the absence of Ed Goodwin, his closest challenger, means he has extended his lead to more than 40 points.
