The PGA has announced its tournament schedule for 2024 with the highlights being the opportunities for PGA Members to secure a place in the Great Britain & Ireland teams for the men and women’s PGA Cup matches in America.
Captain Tim Rouse will take a team of 10 PGA Members to Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Oregon to face the PGA of America from 9-15th September, 2024.
Qualification for the Great Britain & Ireland team begins at the PGA Play-Offs, which takes place at Aphrodite Hills (PGA National Cyprus) for the second year running from 29th February to 2nd March. The top three finishers from the season opener will book their place on the flight to America, while six more players will be decided following the conclusion of the PGA Professional Championship – The PGA’s flagship tournament - at Conwy Golf Club (11th-14th June). The final place on the team will be determined by Rouse’s Captain’s Pick.
The following month, Sunriver Resort also plays host to the third Women’s PGA Cup, which takes place from 1st-5th October. Cathy Panton-Lewis will lead the Great Britain & Ireland team which will comprise of five WPGA Members who qualify through the 2023 and 2024 WPGA Series. They will compete against other PGAs from various nations.
The St. James’s Place National Pro-Am returns in 2024 where PGA Professionals will team up with an amateur to represent their club in one of the UK’s largest pro-ams. The Grand Final will be made up of 12 teams and will be played at the prestigious PGA National Turkey (Antalya Golf Club) from 25th-29th November.
This year’s St. James’s Place National Pro-Am is back with a simplified entry process that sees the introduction of a single entry fee payment covering the club’s entry and all amateur participation at the club qualifying stage. The fixed entry fee offers clubs greater flexibility in administering their qualifier, which will still determine the amateur who will team up with their PGA Professional at the Regional Final stage. Information packs will be sent to all eligible PGA Members and clubs in the New Year.
Another PGA Branded Property – PGA National Italy – will host the popular SkyCaddie PGA Pro–Captain Challenge for the fourth consecutive year, while the English PGA Championship (16th-18th July) is back at Bowood Hotel, Golf & Spa in Wiltshire.
A packed July starts with the Women’s PGA & Assistants’ Championship (1st-2nd July) at Goswick Links Golf Club in Northumberland and finishes with one of the Association’s oldest tournaments, the Coca-Cola PGA Assistants’ Championship (23rd-25th July) at Surrey’s Farleigh Golf Club.
Foxhills Club & Resort, which staged the 2019 and 2022 PGA Cup, is the new host venue for the PGA Fourball Championship from 20th-22nd August. A week before that, the PGA Super 60s Championship is set to be played at Formby Hall for the first time in the tournament’s history from 15th-16th August.
The Asbri Welsh National PGA Championship has moved to Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club, which will stage the event from 4th-5th September, and a month later Hadley Wood hosts the PGA Inter-County Championship from 2nd-3rd October.
The Senior PGA Professional Championship will be added to the 2024 schedule in due course once a date and venue has been finalised.
The Staysure Q Series will be returning in 2024 as the Association continues to offer more playing opportunities for its senior PGA Members. The two events will carry a significant £20,000 prize fund and the top two players from each event will qualify for the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at Trump International Golf Links, Scotland from 31st July-4th August.
In addition, the Association can confirm its popular PGA Open Series is back, with each region hosting an event carrying a prize fund of £20,000. The series, which allows PGA Members to compete in all events, starts in Manchester at Marriott Worsley Park from 1st-2nd May and culminates in Ireland at Belvoir Park Golf Club from 3rd-4th September.

“We know that tournaments are an important Member Service with nearly 50 per cent of Members playing in at least one event per year. A lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes into piecing all the various championships together by the tournaments team.
“The PGA Play-Offs and PGA Professional Championship carry extra significance next year as they count towards qualification for the eagerly anticipated PGA Cup match against the PGA of America.
“We are also looking forward to the return of the Women’s PGA Cup match, an event that continues to grow with each staging. I would encourage WPGA Members to enter the WPGA Series events to be in with a chance of booking their place on the flight to Oregon.”
