A warm welcome: PGA induction days inspire Year 1 Trainees

Free online course and exclusive sunscreen incentive for PGA Members.

As PGA Members, we often spend hours outside, coaching, playing, and leading the way for the next generation of players. Yet, sun safety isn’t always front of mind.

Recognising this, PGA Learn is supporting the Melanoma Fund’s mission to promote greater awareness of sun protection in golf. The aim? To encourage a culture where sun safety becomes second nature, particularly among young players developing habits that will stay with them for life.

To support this initiative, all PGA Members are encouraged to complete the FREE Sunguarding: Sun and Heat Protection course, now available on PGA Learn.

Designed specifically for those working in sport, the short and practical course offers clear, actionable advice on how to stay protected on and off the course.

What the course offers:

  • A better understanding of the risks of sun exposure in golf
  • Practical guidance on protecting yourself, your clients, and your club
  • Accreditation, a certificate, and access to exclusive member offers

And there’s more. In collaboration with Solex sunscreen, Melanoma Fund is offering a limited-time incentive:

  • The first 100 PGA Members* to complete the course in August will receive a free bottle of Solex SPF50 (RRP £25)
  • All other participants will receive 20% off Solex products via an exclusive Melanoma Fund discount

Why it matters:

As PGA Professionals, you are uniquely placed to influence how sun safety is perceived and practised in golf. By taking small, proactive steps, like completing this course, you can lead by example and help create lasting change in the sport we love.

The Sunguarding Course is one of the most straightforward and practical courses I’ve taken. It delivers clear, sensible advice that’s easy to apply, with key questions that make you think. For PGA Pros, this isn’t optional – it’s essential if you want to protect yourself and your clients from UV exposure, lead by example, and stay at the top of your game.
