A warm welcome: PGA induction days inspire Year 1 Trainees

Tristan Crew, PGA Executive Director - Membership Services and WPGA Secretary, looks back in a memorable 12 months for the WPGA and its Members.

"As 2023 comes to a close and we head into the festive season, it seems appropriate to take time to reflect on the success of the WPGA’s operations in 2023.

"The tournament season saw the introduction of a number of new events, particularly in the form of two pro-ams which were extremely popular with Members and amateur teams alike.

"One of these pro-ams took place at Glasson Lakehouse and, with an 18 hole stroke play event for professionals at the same venue the following day, the WPGA’s first ever visit to Ireland was a roaring success.

"Members of the WPGA were not just successful on the golf course, but many of you embraced the opportunity to enhance your Membership designation through the PGA Excel framework. This innovative digital platform enables Members to be recognised for their exceptional dedication and achievement in their professional careers and we hope to see more PGA Members engage with PGA Excel over the winter months. Advancing through the designations (Advanced, Fellow, Advanced Fellow and Master) not only fulfils the career aspirations of many Members, but also showcases the value they bring to the golf industry.

"The WPGA Chairman and committee continue to represent the views and promote the interests of the Membership at every opportunity. On their behalf, as well as my own and that of the PGA management and staff who support WPGA activity throughout the year, I would like to wish you a very happy Christmas and best wishes for 2024."
