A warm welcome: PGA induction days inspire Year 1 Trainees

Following our announcement of the PGA National Tournament schedule, we would like to provide an update regarding the Terms of the Competition for both the Open Series and the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge. These terms can now be found on the individual Tournament Information pages on BlueGolf.

We would like to draw your attention to the following changes:

Open Series 2025 will see the introduction of The Open Series Order of Merit (OOM), with the best five results from nine Open Series Tournaments counting towards the final standings. Points allocation and prize funds are confirmed and a full breakdown is available to view within the Open Series Terms of the Competition.

Eligibility has also been updated, with the top ten players from each 2024 Regional OOM now exempt from competition, an increase from the previous top five.

Note: Open Series events are considered higher ranking than clashing Regional and County tournaments for entrants in exemption categories 3a)-3c) in the Terms of the Competition.

The PGA Pro-Captain Challenge Please note Section 4(i) on Eligibility for Professionals has been updated. This now states:

The following PGA Professionals are eligible to compete in The PGA Pro-Captain Challenge:

  • All core PGA Members currently employed, retained, or providing contractually defined services at the entering club (excluding Class I and PCDM).

For full details, refer to the Terms of the Competition for both the Open Series and the PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.

PGA Cup Qualification via Open Series As previously communicated, the Open Series will qualify one player for the 2026 PGA Cup. The Open Series qualification process and point allocation is outlined in section 9 of the Terms of the Competition. Qualification is now earned via:

1. PGA Professional Championship (x5)

2. Captain’s Picks (x4)

3. Open Series OOM (x1)
