Event Information
The PGA’s premier event for female players, the Women's PGA Professional and Assistants’ Championship consists of a maximum field of 84 players, competing across two rounds in a strokeplay format.
As two separate titles, the Professional and Assistants’ Championships run concurrently, creating 36-holes of top competition, but with two separate crowned winners.
History
Since 2022, the WPGA flagship event has included the Women’s PGA Assistants’ Championship, of which players compete for the Clare Lipscombe Trophy.
Alison Gray was the first winner of the Women’s PGA Professional Championship when she triumphed at St Andrews Bay in 2003.
Heather MacRae equalled Tracy Lovey’s record of four championship titles when she secured her third successive victory at Kedleston Park in 2021, following her initial win in 2016.
The Women's PGA Professional Championship, through a specific two-year Order of Merit, has also contributed to the selection process for the Great Britain & Ireland team which competes in the biennial Women's PGA Cup.
