The pro who turned support into sustainability

The PGA and FootJoy have once again joined forces for the latest instalment of the #FJTHANKSAPRO campaign, aimed to celebrate PGA Members who have helped golfers improve their performance on the golf course over the past year.

Whether it be a lesson that has improved a player’s golf swing, being expertly fitted for a piece of equipment, or simply going that extra mile to create a friendly and welcoming environment so members can go out and play their best, these are the types of nominations both FJ and The PGA are wanting to hear.

Promotion for the campaign will run until Friday, 24th July, where golfers from around the country can vote for their PGA Professional by nominating them through an online form which will be shared on both The PGA’s and FootJoy’s communication platforms.

For the 2026 competition, the winning PGA Member and one of the golfers who takes the time to nominate him/her, will earn themselves the following prize:

  • Wednesday Pro-AM tickets to the 2026 British Masters at The Belfry Hotel & Resort.
  • Behind-the-scenes Titleist Tour truck experience alongside access to a Tour-level FJ footwear R&D session on the range with a DP World Tour winner.
  •  1-night stay at The Belfry Hotel (Tuesday, 25th August)
  • Spend a day and experience your own FJ R&D footwear session at the Titleist Performance Centre in Woburn with a GASP Systems Specialist.
  • Winners to receive FJ goodie bags as well as two pairs of shoes following their R&D session at TPC Woburn.

We were delighted to announce Peter Roberts as last year’s winner of the #FJTHANKSAPGAPRO campaign.

Roberts, PGA Professional at Surbiton Golf Club, received nominations for the work he does in supporting golfers suffering with Parkinson’s disease. He also received submissions for his efforts in helping players find the right footwear model for their game by regularly hosting FJ shoe fitting events.

“The role of the PGA professional is an incredible opportunity to make a difference, whether it be a swing tip in the shop, a series of lessons over a few months or advice on a change of equipment seeing a player’s score improve,” said Roberts.

“Over the past couple of years, we have hosted multiple FootJoy shoe fitting events at Surbiton - both were very well attended and resulted in over a dozen shoe sales at each event.

“Any opportunity to give our members an elevated level of customer service and knowledge is imperative. It is our chance to add a little theatre and make sure that the customer walks away with the size and performance model to help them play better golf.”

The winners will be handpicked by a combined FJ and PGA panel and will be announced at the end of July.
