Michael Sowerby and Ashton Turner produced three rounds of phenomenal golf to win the 2026 PGA Fourball Championship.
The pair carded opening rounds of 63 and 61 at Cumberwell Park in Bradford-on-Avon, and another 61 in the third and final round helped to secure a two-shot victory.
Sowerby, of Alwoodley, and Turner, of Kenwick Park, held a two-shot lead on 18-under-par heading into the last day of action, with four other teams within touching distance of the top of the leaderboard.
A remarkable stretch mid-round was key to Sowerby and Turner’s win. They made six birdies and an eagle between the 7th and 13th, and added one more birdie on the 17th, which was equally as pivotal.
“We really enjoyed it all week,” Sowerby said. “I don’t think I thought about winning up until about five holes to go, only because we were just two mates playing golf and enjoying ourselves, so I didn’t even think about winning until it got closer really.
“I thought going around the turn, we were always going to make a few good scores, so we just had to keep doing what we were doing, and I just had to carry Ashton to victory really!
“Down the stretch, you know you’re in a decent position, so I think that always creates some kind of nerves, which is good,” Turner added. “It’s also good that you’re in a team environment because you’ve got the other person to try and chill you out a little bit.
“I think we played the hole 9 to 12 stretch well all week, a few eagles on there, a few birdies, so we played that stretch really well.
“That’s been kind to us, which I think round this course is vital. It’s such a simple stretch compared to other areas of the golf course. You’ve got to make your shots there.”
Sowerby and Turner finished on 28-under-par, two shots ahead of Brandon Meads and Sebastian Lovell. Greg Davies and James Cooper finished in third place on 25-under-par.
