West Region's Mark Wiggett and amateur partner Alan Hockings were deserving winners of the 2026 PGA Super 60's title with a total score of 83, while Murray White and amateur Robert Head secured the Superb 70's honours.
Held at Forest Pines Golf Resort, a Q Hotels venue – partner of The PGA – the Super 60's is a 36-hole Stableford betterball event open to PGA Members and their amateur partners aged 60 and above. Players faced temperatures of 35 degrees and a course set up tight from tee to green, with accuracy at a premium throughout.
Wiggett said: "It's my first year, so I didn't know what to expect. Not having an individual scorecard, and playing as a team with Alan, felt surreal, but I'm glad I did it. There's a little less pressure without the card in your hand, and it's been a great time."
Hockings added: "It feels good, and it's unexpected. Mark played superbly over the two days; he did most of the work, and I just came in to support him. I play off four but sometimes struggle to play to that level, so it's been superb watching him hit the shots he can hit. I'm a little jealous, if I'm honest, because I wish I could play some of those shots myself, but it's been a great couple of days."
The pair opened with 40 points in round one and improved on it in round two, carding 43 points for a total of 83. Their second round included a net eagle and five net birdies on a blemish-free card to finish one shot clear.
Reflecting on the course, Wiggett said: "The golf course is demanding. You've got to shape your shots here. The first few holes call for a draw, then you're fading it coming home on the back nine. If you can't shape the ball round here, you'll get punished."
Hockings added: "It's a good test of golf, especially the first few holes, where you've got to hit the perfect shot. It's a great course."
Ian and Marie Young finished second on 82 points, with Jeremy Nichols and Stephen Banks completing the podium.
The tournament also awarded a trophy in the Superb 70's category, for PGA Professionals and amateurs aged 70 and above. White and Head retained the title they won in 2025. Back-to-back rounds of 38 points proved more than enough to defend their title, 8 points clear of the chasing duo.
PGA Partners provided a full range of prizes across the week, including the Silverhand Challenge and nearest the pin. The highlight came in round one, when amateur Kevan Hawkings made a hole in one on the par-3 16th.
The PGA thanks all of its commercial partners for their support in helping deliver another great Super 60's and Superb 70's week.
